In early 2011 we had a decision to make.
Do we upgrade the kitchen and main living areas of our house or do we just avoid all the hassle and buy a new home with the the type of fresh modern kitchen and living space that we were looking for?
We had lived in the house for about 17 years and loved the neighbourhood and our garden. Giving these up would be hard to do.
After mulling over all the options we decided to stay and upgrade.
Our desired renovation would involve some fairly radical changes in the structure of our main living area including the removal of a wall, moving major plumbing infrastructure and also significant changes in electrical wiring and fixtures.
Also included would be new flooring throughout, with new hardwood and tiling and also the refurbishment of an existing fireplace. Of course, the existing kitchen was to be completely gutted and replaced with new cabinetry and appliances.
Through word-of mouth, we had heard of the work that Plastercraft had done for other people around and about our neighbourhood and we called Bobby and asked him to come and listen to what we wanted to do and give us a quote.
From that very first meeting we realised that we were dealing with someone that completely understood what we were trying to achieve.
Even though we thought we had a good idea of what we wanted to accomplish with this project, Bobby pointed out a number of things that could be done to improve and enhance
the plan along with those ideas that may lead to some problems. Also, having been through similar projects in his own home he was also able to alert us up front as to the type of disruptions that we would experience in our daily life as work progressed.
In short, he just seemed to "get it".
After this meeting my wife and I were in no doubt that Plastercraft would be able to handle our job.
The quote that came in following this meeting was detailed and fair. No problems there. The decision to proceed with Plastercraft was an easy one to make.
During the work, Bobby kept us completely up to date on progress and, because of his careful planning at the start of the job, there were no real surprises. Everything went pretty much to plan.
Minimising the disruption to our daily life as things moved ahead was a major goal and Plastercraft's attention to this was something that we totally appreciated. Working areas were cleaned at the end of each working day and great care was taken to protect our belongings.
The tradesmen that were involved in the project were friendly, family guys who all completely understood what we were trying to accomplish and treated the work they were doing as if they were working in their own homes.
We were amazed at some of the work that they did to make our dream a reality.
The final result was outstanding and better than we had imagined in our own minds. The attention to finishing in all areas including flooring, trim and cabinet installation was outstanding!
We are thrilled with the results and, despite a number of small changes in plan (mostly in the choice of materials and fixtures on our behalf), the final costs came in right on budget.
We would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Bobby and his group of tradesmen for any renovation project, big or small. Indeed, we were so impressed that we are getting them back to renovate our master bedroom!
